FAQ’s

How many people and what are the costs?
We require a minimum of 10 painters for a canvas, wooden sign, or glass paint night and 10 painters for rock painting. We can accommodate up to 40 people. The more people you invite the more we can reduce the cost by purchasing supplies in bulk.

What if I cannot get 10 people together to attend?
As 10 is the minimum we ask that you pay the fee for eight and your party can go ahead even if you have fewer in number.

What are the different party options?
Painting on Canvas
Painting on 12″ x 16″ canvas or a 16″ x 20″ canvas. We provide the easels, paints, brushes, canvases, aprons and everything else that is needed. Our teacher will walk everyone through the painting step by step, however, we do encourage self expression and creativity. We want everyone to go home with a different, and unique to them painting.  You can choose one of our painting themes or guest can choose to do a free paint and create whatever they want. Choose your painting theme here.
10-15 people $35 + GST per person 16-40 people $30 + GST per person

Wooden Sign Painting with Fat Paint
We provide a wooden plaque for painting, all of the paints, brushes, aprons, sanding equipment and everything else needed to complete your item. Our teacher will walk you through the entire process in learning how to use this artisan chalk paint to complete the project. We have a number of sign themes here.
10-15 people $35 + GST per person 16-40 people $30 per person

How long does a party last?
Parties last for 3 1/2 hours, but you and any helpers may come 30 minutes early to set up if you want to decorate. If you would like additional time for socializing, party or additional set up or clean up time, we are happy to accommodate. The cost is $35 for each additional 1/2 hr or $50 for each additional hour.

How do I pick a date and time?
Send us an email or give us a call to request your date. It is best to get your request in at least one month in advance of the party but we can at times accommodate last minute requests. The calendar does fill up quite quickly so your best bet is to email us as soon as you can.

Do I need to make a deposit?
A deposit of $150 dollars is required to book your party. Once we have received your deposit, your party will be officially listed on our calendar! The deposit is then applied to the final event cost which you pay on the day of the party.

How can I make payment?
For the deposit we accept: cash, etransfers, credit cards (via Square-$2.00 fee) cheques (make all cheques payable to Braid St Studios Ltd. and write the date & time of your party in the memo section) The balance of the payment is due on the day of the event & can be made in cash or by credit card.

What is the 100 Braid St refund policy?
We completely understand that life happens. We will happily refund your deposit if it is more than three weeks before your scheduled party. If you cancel within two weeks before your scheduled party, the deposit is non-refundable but we would be happy to provide a credit that may be used for another 100 Braid St Studio party or classes. Unfortunately, if you need to cancel within 7 days of your scheduled party 100% of your deposit will be forfeited and no credit will be issued. This is because that is not enough time to schedule another class or party. Coffee

Does 100 Braid St provide party food?
No, but you are welcome to bring in your own food or bring in a caterer to supply food. Please be sure to bring tablecloths, decorations, utensils, plates and paper goods.

Does 100 Braid St provide Liquor?
No, not at this time, but this in no way precludes you from having alcohol. You can apply for a Special Occasion Liquor License on line. Please bring the licence with you to the event. Please note: Recent changes to liquor laws also allow some caterers to provide the license and supply alcohol.

What if I don’t see a painting theme that I like?
Please let us know what you’d like us to paint. We are always looking for new ideas.

What should we wear?
We provide aprons, but we ask that everyone wear clothes that it’s ok to get paint splattered on. We do have a sink for clean-ups but most everyone gets paint on something at some point.

What time can we set up?
Please come 30 minutes before your party to set up. Additional time may be scheduled upon request.

Are there any restrictions on decor or party items?
We are a glitter, confetti, bubble, and spray string free building. A $350 clean-up fee will be charged if any of these items are used on the premises.

Do I need to clean up?
We ask that you allow time to clean up your food, drinks and party supplies within the allotted time of 3 hours. We will take care of the painting clean-up.

Do you have a sound system?
We do have a small sound system. If you would like particular music to be played in the background, please let us know your wishes. If you bring an ipad or iphone we can hook it up to our system. Please feel free to call us & arrange to see the studio if it will help you plan your party, especially if you haven’t painted with us before!

What are the benefits of of hosting a private party at 100 Braid St Studios?

Many of you knew Carla Thompson. Carla had a rema Many of you knew Carla Thompson.

Carla had a remarkable gift for helping people feel seen, supported, and capable. Whether she was teaching a new skill, helping someone untangle their finances, offering accountability through body doubling, or quietly working behind the scenes to make things run smoothly, she brought kindness and patience to everything she did.

You may have known Carla through Braid Studios, the Decide Your Life Community with @georgeelow , her Holistic Bookkeeper business, her work with the Dot community or her Books & Brew sessions.

Carla first came to Braid Studios as a crochet instructor, but over the years she became so much more than a teacher. She served as our Paint Night Manager, Wedding & Events Manager, administrator, bookkeeper, trusted advisor, and dear friend. Even after moving to Vancouver Island during Covid, Carla remained an important part of the Braid community. For me, as owner of Braid, Carla was my right-hand person and one of my closest friends. For many others, she was a mentor, cheerleader, problem solver, and steady source of support.

Her impact reached far beyond any one business or community and the kindness she brought to each of them was always the same.

On June 27, I want to invite friends, family, artists, colleagues, clients, students, and community members to join us as we share stories and memories of this beautiful woman who touched so many lives. ~ Susan
