Biography
My name is Kaileen, I am 27 years old, and I am a mouth painter. I’m a Student Member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (MFPA) / Vereinigung der mund- und fussmalenden Künstler (VDMFK). I have a neuromuscular disability presumed to be a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth type 2. To sum it up in a few words, my muscles are very weak and progressively worsen over time. I began teaching myself how to paint with my mouth in November 2017. My dream is for it to be my career and I will never stop working towards that goal.
Artist Statement
Painting has become a way of expressing myself, giving me a voice when my physical one was lost. Mouth painting makes me feel proud of my body’s ability to create art after losing any ability to do so with my hands.
