Each month, on the first Saturday from 12 – 4 pm, Braid Studios throws open its doors for an engaging OPEN ARTIST STUDIO DAY at 321 6th St., New Westminster, BC (2nd and 1st floors). This is more than a gallery visit, it’s an invitation to step directly into the creative process. The public is welcome to wander through working studios, see art in progress, and meet the artists who make this vibrant, community-centered hub hum with creative energy.

These OPEN ARTIST STUDIO days are a rare opportunity to connect face-to-face with painters, sculptors, textile artists, mixed-media makers and more, all practising in their own dedicated spaces. Whether you’re curious about technique, interested in an artist’s inspiration, or considering a purchase, there’s no substitute for experiencing art as it’s being made. With more than 20 studios open through the space at The Braid Loft each month, the event naturally encourages conversation, discovery, and deeper appreciation of local artistic practice.

Best of all, Open Studio days are welcoming and free for all ages—no appointment or RSVP needed. Tour the studios at your own pace, ask questions, view works-in-progress, and if something resonates with you, you can often buy artwork straight from the creator.
