Biography

My name is Tony Durke, I live in new Westminster BC and I am a resident artist at 100 for 8th St., Studios. I am from Vancouver Island and I studied film at Canadian college in Victoria. I began working with oil on canvas 20 years ago and switched to oil on carved wood in 2007.

Most of my pieces are based on current Socio political and Socio economic and sociological phenomenons. We live in a hellish and beautiful world that demands emotion and honesty in artists.

Artist Statement

I work in oil and mixed media on carved wood. My subject matter is challenging at times but also playful and easy. I put a lot of trust in colour.
