William Liao
Artist
Based in North Vancouver now, William continues to build on his painting practice, exhibiting across British Columbia, Canada and in the USA. His recent work moves fluidly between atmospheric landscapes and expressive city-based abstractions.
He is still showing his work through involvement with the Federation of Canadian Artists, where he remains an active member.
Biography
Artistic inspiration began at an early age for me. Growing up in Beijing, China after the Cultural Revolution, I was surrounded by classical Chinese culture as well as new European art. These are the influences which continue to define and inspire my work today.
With 7 years of professional training, I graduated from Beijing Normal University, with a Bachelors of Arts degree with a major in Fine Arts.
Live in Vancouver for 10 years. AFCA (Associate) Member of Federation of Canadian Artists.
Artist Statement
Specializing in portraits and landscapes, I explorative drawings and paintings combine traditional mediums with modern techniques, providing my audience with another dimension of experience.
